Screen Printing, sometimes referred to as silk screen printing, has its origins in Asia where inks or pigments were passed through silk mesh to transfer an image. Today the mesh is a variety of synthetic materials using photosensitive chemicals and exposure to high intensity lights. The advantage of screen printing over offset printing is the almost any surface can be printed including metal, vinyls, wood, glass, acrylics, plastics, and heavy paper stock. Another advantage of Screen Printing is it is often very economical in smaller quantities over conventional offset printing. Also screen printing is ideal for very large format printing in sizes not available in offset printing.
